How do I get Ammonia smell from Dog pee out of a carpet?

A. I highly recommend using "No Stink" or any other type of odor and enzyme remover. Washing the carpet with a cleaner and masking the smell is not gonna do the trick, you need to acquire to acquire a product with these qualifications otherwise the smell and urine will remain. The remover should be able to break down the enzymes of the urine left over. If this smell is left over (which is not evident to us cause we cannot smell it) your dog will continue to urinate on this spot. You can find one of these products at your nearby pet store. good luck.

How can we rid our entryway of a mysterious ammonia smell? And what could be causing it?
Q. Ammonia Smell in Entry under Brownstone Stairs We live in the garden apartment of a brownstone in Brooklyn with a private entrance under the main stairs of the building. Recently a strong ammonia smell has started to emanate from the entryway between the gate and front door to our apartment, and we can t determine where it is coming from. The space has a small closet, which is painted shut. The area is also damp and has poor drainage in bad weather. What can cause such an odor? What can be done to remedy the problem? Thanks to all for their help so far. The smell tends to increase after rains and lingers for a few days. We are pretty sure its not cats.

Q. my four year old daughter has a very strong ammonia smell in her urine, real bad. I read up a little bit and i found that it could be that she is dehydrated but she has been going pee a lot and not just in small amounts. could she still be dehydrated or could it possibly be something else?? what could it be?

A. It could be any number of problems. Go ahead and take her to the doctor tomorrow. They may have your daughter pee in a cup to get a urine test. She may need a blood test too. :p Best case scenario: It is just a urinary tract infection or bladder infection. Worst case scenario: Diabetes or kidney issues. Don't panic. Just see the doctor. Whatever it is, you want to catch it early.

Q. There is a highly potent smell of ammonia in my apartment, i called the fire brigade they couldn't find where it was coming from. Its definatley not a gas leak, i don't have cats or any other animal does anyone know what could be causing this smell as nobody can figure it out. none of my neighbour's have this smell in there apartments.

A. You could check all the lids on all of the bottles of cleaners. Do you have a permanant solution for the hair? A leak under one of the sinks can cause an odor. Check the ac unit. There might be mold in it. Or see if a cat or dog is urinating on it out side.

Can someone explain exactly why the smell of ammonia would increase as the temperature is increased?
Q. Old-fashioned "smelling salts" consist of ammonium carbonate, (NH4)2CO2. The reaction for the decompostion of ammonium carbonate (NH4)2CO3(s) <---> 2NH3(g) + CO2(g) + H2O(g) is endothermic. Would the smell of ammonia increase or decrease as the temperature is increased? It increases. But can someone explain to me exactly why?
Asked by BioMajor101 - Mon Aug 3 18:20:24 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The key is that the formation of ammonia is endothermic meaning it occurs with the absorption of heat, Higher temperature means more heat is available to drive the reaction and thus produce more ammonia which produces a stronger smell.

A. The fish is old--definitely NOT fresh. This happens to all fish and seafood that's been sitting around too long. It's not likely to be harmful but I'd send it back and asked that it be replaced with something fresh.

Why does my Steer Manure smell like Ammonia?
Q. I bought 99 cent bags of steer manure from Wal-Mart for my veggie garden for spring. When I laided it out it has a real strong smell of ammonia. This doesnt smell safe to me. is the ammonia an added substance?
Asked by Pete - Sun Nov 4 22:32:17 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Manure has to undergo a decomposition process to become a safe soil amendment. Either your product was poorly composted or became overly wet. The compost phase of manure treatment is vital to a quality product. The compost is held in piles that get extremely hot. These piles are turned regularly to make certain all parts of the manure pile get composted equally. This process breaks down both pathogens and the organic matter in the manure. It is also the process to kill weed seeds that are very common in all manures. Over time the pile cools and your end product will be a sweet smelling earthy product. If the manure is not composted long enough, turned frequently or is overly wet, you get an ammonia or sour smelling product. If… [cont.]

The Ammonia smell that is in a goats stall when it really needs to be cleaned,is this AMMONIA -?
Q. -and do people produce this in thier sewer pipes?
Asked by bricyns - Sat Dec 9 11:49:57 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes, it is. And yes people do. Therefore, be very wary about using chlorine bleach to clean your goat's mess, as mixing bleach and ammonia creates toxic gases called chloramines. From the Health Department of New Jersey: Do not mix bleach and ammonia. In addition to ammonia purchased as a cleaning product, ammonia may be found in the following: some glass and window cleaners urine (be careful if you clean cat litter boxes or use a diaper pail) some interior and exterior paints. I think that would go for cleaning a goat's stall, too.

A. It smells like cat pee or very strong Windex with ammonia. That is if you smell it just while using it. If you can't get away from it ammonia burns the inside of your nose. There are some types that are odor controlled. I don't know how they do it but the odor is a lot less. Ammonia cuts so many things - grease, wax, tree sap - it is hard to live without.

Crab legs had an ammonia taste/smell?
Q. I steamed some snow crab legs. The meat from one leg had a strong ammonia taste. The rest of the legs on that cluster smelled like ammonia. I did not get physically ill from the piece I ate, but the smell made me feel sick to my stomach. Were the crab legs old/on the way to being spoiled?
Asked by Caligirl - Fri Jul 4 10:44:35 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Perhaps at one time, ammonia was used as a preservative (look at the 2nd paragraph under "The Chanteymen"): But I am not aware of any approved use as a seafood preservative. In fact, if it were used, I would think it would be to hide decomposition. No seafood should smell or taste of ammonia. That means it is past its prime. If you handled the food appropriately (kept it properly refrigerated/frozen, used it promptly after purchase, etc.), take your receipt to the store of purchase and register a complaint.
