How do I retrieve diagnostic codes from a 1997 Nissan 240SX?
Q. I don't have fancy equipment- can't I just jump two of the wires in the diagnostic port to retrieve trouble codes via flashes of the check engine light? I've done it on other cars, but I don't have the book for this one. The check engine light is on, so I know that it has thrown a code.

Q. 95 nissan maxima with diagnostic codes: P0505, P0325, P1400, P0130 & P0150. what parts do i need to fix these codes. i went to autozone but couldn't really pinpoint exactly what parts are needed on all codes.

A. Your codes make zero sense... Here is how to get the codes directly from your ECU.. Here is how to figure out what those codes are once you have them.. Dont be surprised if you get a few ghost codes that have no meaning. Every 4th gen has meaningless ghost codes when onboard diagnostics are ran.

A. DTC P1776 = Solenoid Switch Valve Latched in LR Position This code indicates a possible bad solenoid pack. The shift solenoids are on the valve body. P0700 - Transmission Control System (MIL Request) someone said P0700 could be a speed sensor is bad..dunno for sure.

A. Most likely you can, but you would need a shop manual or find the information on-line as to exactly how and what the codes mean. A quick Google of "Mazda Protege Forums" turned up many responses, so check with them. Most cars allow the use of a volt meter to read stored codes. The manual would specify which contacts on the diagnostic port to connect with the volt meter probes. The best are the analogue meters as you can watch the needle swing. The pattern of the "swing" details an error code which can then be referenced to a chart in the manual. Also, many vehicles have 3rd party software that can run on laptops or PDA's that can do this much easier. You would by the appropriate software/hardware and simply plug into the diagnostic… [cont.]

97 neon dying and diagnostic testing shows no codes?
Q. New EGR Valve, new spark plugs and wires. And just had an oil change. Put the car on a diagnostic tester says there is no codes found and the car continues to die. But will run fine in reverse.
Asked by Claire T - Sun Oct 4 17:07:31 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. you might also want to have a fuel pressure test done on it, low fuel pressure will cause this to happen sometimes you may also have a tcc switch stuck in the transmission or a bad mount causing it to pull on a wiring harness and causing it to die out like that,i have seen that happen a few times before, good luck.

How do you read diagnostic trouble codes on an '87 Olds Cutlass Ciera?
Q. I know you can scan the computer using nothing more than a paper clip, but I need someone to explain how to read the "check engine" flashes. I turn the key to the on position (without starting) and wait for the check engine light to turn off. Then I insert the paper clip and get a series of - FLASH...FLASH...FLASH. How do you count these? How do I know when it's giving me a trouble code?
Asked by Dragonfire442 - Sat Nov 25 07:58:48 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you do this like I suggest you will have no problem. First: with the ignition key off, insert the paper clip into the right top two terminals. Second: turn the ignition switch on, because if you have the switch on when you insert the paper clip, you can blow the computer with a voltage spike! You will have short flashes and long flashes, with a pause in between flashes. It will be like one long flash followed by two short flashes. This translates to a code 12 because the one long is 1, and the two short is 2. When you turn the key on, it will come on momentarily, and go off. Now it will flash you the code. Leave the paper clip inserted, and turn off the switch, then remove it or use it again to get the codes again to confirm you… [cont.]

Dell optiplex 260 diagnostic codes?
Q. At start up, my operating system wont start up and I noticed the lights in back which are A-B-C-D. A and B light up "green" while C and D are amber or "yellow" in color. Does anybody know what that indicates ??? I went to the Dell support website and they didn't have my code in the diagnostic table. If anybody might know what this means, please let me know. much appreciated Thank you!
Asked by gewprikk - Thu Nov 13 23:38:45 2008 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. When C & D are lit up yellow, that usually means there is a memory error. Either your RAM has gone bad or they might be loose. Try reseating the memory and the lights should disappear if that is the case. Otherwise, you will probably need to replace the RAM.
