What diagnostics equipment to use for a 1995 trans am?
Q. I know that my 1995 trans am has an OBD1 system with an OBD2 port. What is the cheapest setup I could use to get trouble codes from this system? I would prefer it if I could put some software on my laptop.

A. I explained to you before how to retrieve the codes, and that is cheap. If you would rather have some fancy program for a lap top, be ready to fork out at least 400 bucks. Good luck. Christopher

How come my Onstar diagnostics didn't tell me something's wrong with my car until it died?
Q. Isn't the so-called high technology can detect if there's anything wrong with the car and send signal to my car and has a light on? Well my car just died without any warning lights, I'm so disappointed with Onstar and Cadillac.. If they can't detect "everything", what's the point to pay more money to have this service?

A. Without knowing the cause of the problem that caused the car to die, I can not tell you why the on board diagnostics did not warn you. If the problem was caused by a mechanical failure, rather than the failure of an electronic component there would have been no warning. The On-star system and the on board diagnostics read the information from sensors, and will warn you if a sensor reading is out of acceptable range. It is not a replacement for having your car checked and serviced regularly by a qualified mechanic.

where do i plug a diagnostics machine on a peugeot 307?
